Cherry Blossom Ramblers Family Band present a program of up north, front porch pickin’ at its best…where the harmonies flow through a multi-textured fabric of guitar, autoharp, lap dulcimer, concertina and pennywhistle. Gentle stories of enduring love, rollicking ditties, songs of simple faith are woven together for a concert of musical delight.
Two veteran musicians have joined forces as a husband and wife ensemble, bringing over 30 years of performing experience into one dynamic group.
Donna Wilson Probes began singing with her father at age 12. Following her love of traditional music, she was the founder of the Grand Rapids Folk Arts Center. She has performed on stage across the state of Michigan in various ensembles including Daddy Frank & Mama, The Muscat Ramblers, Better Than Nothin’ Band, and Family Reunion. She plays guitar, lap (mountain) dulcimer, autoharp, and a variety of Irish and African drums. Over the course of her musical career, she has taught music lessons, written and produced radio jingles, and done extensive studio singing.
“Doc” Probes started playing piano for church revivals when he was eight. His love of music lead him to Interlochen Center for the Arts, where he attended both the Camp and Academy until High School graduation. As a bassoonist, he earned his way through medical school playing in symphonies. He plays guitar, bouzouki, piano, concertina, and anything else he can get his hands on. He has performed all over west Michigan and is the leader of the Irish traditional music group, Finnegan.
The family band is joined by daughter, Kelly, whose crystal clear voice can rival any pop singer on the charts. With a background in musical theater, Kelly brightens up the stage with her beautiful smile and exceptional stage presence.
